TRISH STRATUS TALKS ABOUT LAYCOOL

Trish Stratus is featured in a new interview with Diva-Dirt.com where she talks about WrestleMania 27, Tough Enough and more. Regarding working with Layla and Michelle McCool, she said:

“The opportunity came up to work with LayCool, which I’m so excited about. I mean they’ve done such great work, people love to hate them. As a fan, I’ve sat back and I’ve watched, especially Layla , watched them grow into great workers. They’ve put in the work to develop their characters.”

*SPOILER* TRIPLE H TO LOSE AT WRESTLEMANIA?

In WWE’s new DX DVD that comes out a few days after WrestleMania, there is a segment where Triple H and Shawn Michaels make fun of each other for losing to The Undertaker. Triple H noted that Taker always beat Shawn and when Shawn responded that Taker beat Triple H too, Triple H acted as if it’s something he’s tried to forget. While they don’t mention WrestleMania in the conversation, the impression given is that they were talking about the match at WrestleMania 27, not their previous match.

RAW RATINGS 3/28

This past Monday’s RAW scored a 3.84 cable rating with an average of 5.89 million viewers. This was the most viewers for RAW since the June 29th, 2009 episode. In addition, the 4.77 final overrun segment was the highest rated quarter since June 22nd, 2009, the commercial-free RAW. RAW’s peak this week with 7.31 million viewers was the first segment on RAW to break 7 million in almost two years.

In a segment breakdown, Edge and Christian vs. Brodus Clay and Alberto Del Rio gained 3,000 viewers from the opener with CM Punk. The video for Triple H and Undertaker lost 73,000 viewers while Justin Gabriel vs. Santino Marella gained 283,000 viewers. The segment with Triple H, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker gained 1,346,000 viewers, making the rating go from 3.5 to 4.5 in the Males 18-49 demographic and from 4.5 to 5.4 in the teenagers demo.

Jerry Lawler vs. Jack Swagger lost 1,449,000 viewers, making it one of the worst segments as far as losing viewers goes in years. The same thing happened with Sheamus and Daniel Bryan a few weeks ago – fans tune in to see a major angle, in this case the one with HHH-Taker-HBK, and then tune out once the major angle is over.

The match with Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan and John Morrison lost 32,000 more viewers but the Road Warriors Hall of Fame video and the angle with Snooki, Layla, Michelle McCool and Trish Stratus at a bar gained 255,000 viewers. The final segment with The Rock, John Cena and The Miz gained 1,539,000 viewers, which is one of the biggest gains in several years.

ROAD WARRIOR ANIMAL TALKS ABOUT HALL OF FAME

Road Warrior Animal appeared on Right After Wrestling this week and had the following to say about The Road Warriors and Paul Ellering going into the WWE Hall of Fame this year:

"Well you know how it is. Jealousy is the greatest equalizer (in our business) sometimes. Guys who don’t get invited to it…it’s just jealousy. You look at the path people take in this business, and I knew it was going to be sooner-or-later."

Animal also revealed that WWE is still working on a physical building for the Hall of Fame in Florida. He said:

"WWE is looking at a big building in Tampa. I’m gonna donate some of my gear there – maybe some of my spiked-shoulder pads will go in the Hall. They’re getting stuff from everybody. And it’s gonna be an attraction – some place where fans can go. It’s gonna be like the pro-football hall of fame."

WHICH MATCH TO CLOSE WRESTLEMANIA 27?

There have been discussions all week about whether to close Sunday's WrestleMania XXVII pay-per-view event with John Cena vs. The Miz or Triple H vs. The Undertaker. The latter match was scheduled to close the show last week, but Vince McMahon is going back and forth this week on what to do.

WRESTLEMANIA WEEK KICKS OFF

"WrestleMania Week" kicked off today in Atlanta, Georgia as Turner Field hosted "WWE Night." WWE talent John Morrison, Mark Henry, Eve and Melina participated in an autograph signing prior to an Atlanta Braves spring training game.

Cena will be honored at the party for surpassing 200 wishes granted. Cena joins Hulk Hogan along with NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon as the only celebrities to reach 200 wishes.

WWE UNHAPPY WITH SNOOK SEGMENT ON RAW

The footage of Snooki, Trish Stratus, Layla and Michelle McCool in a bar that aired on RAW this past Monday was not what WWE had originally hoped for. They decided to air the best parts of the footage they filmed at the bar. The filming was delayed after Snooki showed up several hours late to the shoot.

On a related note, the man who was hitting on Snooki and Trish in the bar is a local independent wrestler who often wrestles as the "brother" of TNA star Robbie E.

ROCK ON NOT BEING PG

The Rock responded to Twitter followers who said his act on WWE Raw isn't PG. "Yes, I agree (with) some of you...me saying 'sumbitches and candy asses' on Raw isn't PG," Rock wrote. "But remember...when it's Rock Raw...it ain't ever PG."

SHEAMUS TALKS ABOUT HIS MATCH, BEING US CHAMP

WWE United States Champion Sheamus recently spoke with IrishCentral.com to promote WrestleMania 27. Here are some highlights:

His WrestleMania match with Daniel Bryan:
"I want people walking away from Wrestlemania talking about our match. I’m representing Ireland again, I’m the champion of the United States of America and there are going to be some great matches, but I’m going to give everything I have to steal the show at Wrestlemania. I’m an Irishman who came up from a small little country, followed his dream and now I hold the title."

Being US Champion:
"Being the U.S. champion is a big deal for me. Knowing that my ancestors built this country, it’s kind of like, the Irish were treated badly in this country for a long time, with a lot of tacky Irish stereotypes, so to me it’s kind of like a bragging right. I’m enjoying shoving it down people’s throats that an Irish guy is their champion."

His WWE career:
"I’m not happy until I’m going forward and accomplishing goals. I’m going to my second Wrestlemania, and from there I just want to keep taking leaps and bounds until I become one of the greatest ever. I can’t complain right now, I’m enjoying myself, the matches are great and I’m making a name for myself. I keep building that Celtic Warrior brand."

KEVIN NASH TALKS ABOUT HIS FUTURE, WRESTLEMANIA 27

Kevin Nash recently spoke with CLATL.com to promote his party in Atlanta this week. Here are some highlights:

Before the Royal Rumble, you worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling for a few years. What is your role with WWE now?

For me, right now at almost 52 years old, I really don't want to be bouncing around too much. I'm blessed that I can get around as well as I can after being beat up for so many years. But I'd still like to do anything I can do to help the young guys and help the federation move forward. So we're going to sit down over 'Mania weekend and the weeks after that, look at some options, and see what works for them and what works for myself and move forward.

Will you be involved in WrestleMania at all?

I haven't been told anything, but like any good pro wrestler, I'll definitely pack my gear because you never know when somebody's going to go down and they need a body. So I'll make sure I have my gear on me in case I am needed. But I will be signing at the fan Axxess for them under my Legends contract. It'll be nice to get back down there, and WrestleMania's always special. It's the Super Bowl of wrestling, and it's nice to be part of the whole weekend. And to do our own little thing to kick it off is something that's special to me because I've never tried to do anything like this before and it's gotten a good response.

JERRY LAWLER TALKS ABOUT MICHAEL COLE, UNDERTAKER'S STREAK

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler spoke with IGN this week to promote his WrestleMania 27 match with Michael Cole. Here are some highlights:

You're facing off against Michael Cole at WrestleMania. Since this is your first WrestleMania match ever, would you have preferred it be against an actual wrestler?

Would I have preferred for it to be a wrestler? Maybe at first. But now, looking back on the way this has all unfolded and the way it's going to be now, I couldn't have had a better opponent. Especially now that it's so reminiscent of the actual Andy Kaufman feud. I mean here, just like Andy, I'm going in the ring against a guy who's never competed. Not only at WrestleMania, but anywhere. So the curiosity factor of what will be going through Michael Cole's mind, other than my fist, makes this the perfect match up here. The people want to see Michael Cole get completely destroyed. They know without the help of Jack Swagger he's going to be helpless and they know that with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin being in the match as the referee, they know he's not going to put up with interference and foolishness. So it'll just come down to me and Cole once that bell rings. So, to me, that's perfect. Because if I can't put a major league whooping on Michael Cole, after all the years I've been in the business, then something's wrong.

Do you think Cole has a better chance of getting a piledriver or a stunner at WrestleMania?

Well, I would say probably a stunner. Without a doubt. It's in his future somewhere along the line. Maybe once the match is over. But you know what? The WWE has become so health conscious about concussions. It's been in the news, what with football players not allowed to have helmet to helmet contact anymore. So they've actually banned piledrivers. You know, the piledriver move consists of turning your opponent upside head and dropping them on the top of their head. Which is what I used as my career finishing move for so many years. So I'm not going to be able to give Cole a piledriver. But if you remember, it was always illegal. Even back in Tennessee when I gave Andy Kaufman the two piledrivers, it actually cost me the victory. Andy was actually awarded the match and the victory because I used the piledrivers, but I just wanted to prove a point and I felt like I wanted to hurt Andy just to let him know what the business was really like. And even though I do feel the same way, I feel like I have to hurt Michael Cole. I feel like if I let a guy who's never been in a match before go into the biggest match of my career and come out unscathed, it's going to make everything I've ever done look like a joke. So I plan on making Michael Cole's next stop, after he gets to the Georgia Dome, be the hospital.

Many feel nowadays that The Undertaker's streak, and any match where his streak is on the line, is more of a marquee event than title matches at WrestleMania. Do you agree?

You know what? I do. And simply because, with what we talked about a minute ago with me and Michael Cole, I think that becomes personal. Because you know it's a huge personal thing for The Undertaker that he's gone 18 years without losing at WrestleMania. So that streak of his is a tremendous accomplishment and he's got to take it as a major personal threat or affront when someone challenges him. And with Triple H, who's been best friends with Shawn Michael for years and Shawn Michaels having gone out in a blaze of glory last year not being able to break Undertaker's streak… You know it's got to be personal for Triple H. And it means everything to him to try and do something his best friend couldn't do. And maybe he's doing it for his best friend. And maybe it's that little bit of emotion where he's saying "Look at this Shawn. I'm going to do something you couldn't do." But who knows? You know it's a personal thing for Triple H to win this match. Yes, you can sometimes have match that, to the fans, have that little extra bit of significance. More so than just – and I don't want to say just a title match – but we see a lot of title matches. The champion has to defend the title on a regular basis. But you don't always see matches that have personal issues riding on it.

LIVE SMACKDOWN TAPINGS FOR 1/4

Shawn says at WrestleMania 27, the biggest match of Taker and Triple H's careers will take place. Shawn takes about Taker first and puts him over, then talks about the Streak. Shawn talks about Triple H next. Shawn says neither of them will be the same again after Sunday's No Holds Barred match. Shawn asks Triple H what makes him think he can do what Shawn couldn't.

Triple H says that Shawn got soft and that's the truth. He says Shawn was more concerned with being the Showstopper. Triple H says he's not Shawn, not even close, he has to win and will win. Triple H talks to Taker about first coming into WWE and watching how great "that guy" was. Triple H says he represented everything WWE was and should be, and he patterned himself after that guy. Triple H says that guy was Undertaker. He says he learned to respect Taker more and more everyday. He says there's only one other person he respects as much as Taker and that's Shawn. Triple H says he came back for one reason - to stand here out of respect and look Taker dead in his eyes, and tell him it's time.

Triple H says Taker will always be the Phenom but after Sunday, he won't be undefeated at WrestleMania. Triple H says he is the one, as in 18 and 1. Triple H tells Taker that he and his streak will rest in peace at WrestleMania 27. Taker grabs the mic. FUTURE OF WWE FATAL 4 WAY PPV

An internal WWE pay-per-view memo still lists the Fatal 4 Way pay-per-view as having that name but the new tagline is Capitol Punishment. It was previously reported that Fatal 4 Way had been changed to Capitol Punishment but until we get official word from WWE, it sounds like the Capitol Punishment name is just a tagline.
For what it’s worth, WWE recently registered the trademark for Capitol Punishment.

MICHAEL COLE APOLOGIZES ABOUT HOMOPHOBIC SLUR

Michael Cole posted a homophobic slur Saturday afternoon on his recently launched Twitter account as he called fellow WWE announcer Josh Mathews a ‘faggot’. The tweet was in response to Mathews writing “Chicago!”, the host city of this Monday’s RAW taping. The one word message was deleted approximately half an hour later and an apology was issued.

“I apologize to any and all who were offended by my tweet toward young Josh Mathews,” Cole wrote. “It was obviously not meant the way it was taken.”

He later added, “I was not ordered to apologize I said I am sorry because I am. Now can I get back to being a character again please?”

World Wrestling Entertainment recently came under fire from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), which took issue with the ‘homophobic taunts’ John Cena directed towards Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the February 28 episode of Monday Night RAW. Cena’s unsavory verbiage prompted WWE to issue an apology and form a partnership with the organization on an anti-bullying campaign.

WWE subsequently released the following statement:

“WWE takes this issue very seriously, and has already spoken with our talent about these incidents. We are taking steps and working with GLAAD to ensure that our fans know that WWE is against bullying or discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. We strongly value our fans in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and apologize to them for these incidents.”

It was also noted in GLAAD’s press release that WWE has invited the organization to conduct training sessions for their staff of writers and editors.

SMACKDOWN REPORT 3/25

This week’s show starts off with highlights from the steel cage match between Christian and Alberto Del Rio that saw Del Rio’s destiny knocked a little off its path with a loss to Christian. Del Rio took out his frustration on Christian with a post match attack, but it was stopped by Edge, who wanted to get close to Alberto’s car. Edge did not get to repossess the car because Brodus Clay attacked Edge from behind.

We move to tonight’s show and Edge is in Teddy Long’s office and Edge’s arm is wrapped up due to last week’s attack. Edge tells Teddy he is getting hit in the arm each week. Edge says that Teddy’s ruling doesn’t make sense because what goes around comes around. He says that he is not getting a chance to go after Alberto and then he suggests that Teddy is showing some favoritism towards Alberto.

Teddy says that what he is doing is in the best interest of the WWE and the Smackdown main event at Wrestlemania. He also says that he is doing this for the best interest of Edge and Alberto Del Rio.

Edge wants to know why he should care about the best interest of Alberto Del Rio because Alberto doesn’t care about his.

Teddy says that this conversation is over and it has gone too far. If Edge or Alberto as much as touch each other, they will both be banned from Wrestlemania.

Devon . . . cue the Green Day.

We are live on tape from Columbus, Ohio and your announcers are Michael ‘How do I look in Maize and Blue this week’ Cole, Booker ‘Tressel’ T, and Josh ‘I’m Going to Wrestlemania?’ Mathews.
