FAREWELL FOR EDGE AFTER SMACKDOWN TAPINGS

After Tuesday night’s SmackDown tapings in Albany, New York, Edge came down and did a “five second pose” with Christian before the entire WWE roster, including Triple H, came down and paid tribute to The Rated R Superstar.

Edge gave a long farewell speech, thanking everyone he could think of. He talked about Kane, Christian, Lita and Vickie Guerrero. Edge was a class act here and the crowd loved the speech, according to a fan in attendance. A “Hall of Fame” chant broke out.

WWE camera crews were filming the speech so it will likely be on their website or a future DVD release.

Edge is still under contract to WWE and will be working with them later this year to promote his new WWE Studios movie. Everyone expects Edge to remain a part of the WWE family, similar to Shawn Michaels.

Tonight’s SmackDown tapings is his last scheduled appearance for the company for the time being.

VINCE MCMAHON HATING SIN CARA'S ENTRANCE

Vince McMahon hates Sin Cara’s entrance using the trampoline since he’s messed it up two out of three times he’s performed it at a TV taping. After last night’s RAW, the special Cara may be completely scrapped or altered.

MORE ON EDGE'S RETIRMENT

As noted before, Edge has legitimately retired from WWE due to issues with his neck that haven’t been improving. Edge had been talking about retiring in two years but told someone as recent as a few weeks ago that he felt like he had five more years left.

It’s said that Edge has some writing projects that he will be working on and that he knows what he wants to do with his life and those plans don’t have much to do with wrestling. The feeling is that Edge will always stay affiliated with WWE but won’t be someone you see working full time behind-the-scenes as an agent or something.

Regarding Edge and the World Heavyweight Title, there was some confusion at RAW last night as to why WWE didn’t put Alberto Del Rio over at WrestleMania 27 if they knew there was even a small chance that Edge would be leaving soon.

While WWE’s announcement notes that Edge got his MRI results the Monday after WrestleMania, sources indicate that he’s been feeling more intense pain for a few weeks now but didn’t think he would be forced to retire. Had they known Edge would have to retire, more emphasis would have been put on the WrestleMania match to make it feel more special.

NEWS ON JOHN MORRISON AND TRISH STRATUS

The feeling at RAW last night among some was that John Morrison would have got R-Truth’s spot in the WWE Title Triple Threat at Extreme Rules if it weren’t for the heat on him right now for his actions towards Trish Stratus.

MIZ TALKS ABOUT ROCK, WRESTLEMANIA 28, FANS

WWE Champion The Miz spoke with The Miami Herald this week. Here are some highlights:

Fans’ reaction to him:
“The fans always cheer me at events like Axxess or the press conferences. Then at live events they boo me, but show me the respect I deserve. They didn’t do that three years ago, when they literally hated me and couldn’t stand me. They changed the channel, when I was on TV. Now I think I’m starting to earn their respect, which is good.”

The Rock:
“The Rock was my favorite growing up. He has always been my favorite. I was able to get in there and upstage him and literally show him that I’m better. It’s like when you see an icon or someone you idolize when you are younger. Then you are in the ring with him and are able to show him up. To show everyone you are better than your idol, there is nothing better than that.”

WrestleMania 28 in Miami:
“I will still be the main event. I plan on still being the WWE champion. I plan on being the longest reigning WWE champion of all time. It’s just the type of person I am. I am always aiming to be number one and the best. So I will be the champion, the main event and everything everyone else isn’t.”

NEWS ON EDGE'S RETIREMENT, WORLD TITLE MATCH AT EXTREME RULES

As noted before, Edge will hand over the World Heavyweight Title at tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings. WWE has removed the World Title Ladder Match from their Extreme Rules line-up.

One idea discussed for tonight’s SmackDown tapings has Edge hand-picking Christian to take his place against Alberto Del Rio in the Ladder Match, which would be for the vacant World Heavyweight Title belt.

POSSIBLE CORRE MATCH AT EXTREME RULES

There has been talk of putting The Corre in a multi-man match at Extreme Rules with Wade Barrett’s Intercontinental Title on the line and Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater’s Tag Team Titles on the line.

NATALYA AND CHRISTIAN TALKS ABOUT EDGE'S RETIREMENT

Natalya and Christian have took to Twitter and commented on their friend Edge retiring. Here’s what they wrote:

Natalya: “My thoughts are with Edge, and thank you so much for the wonderful memories. You’re a real, true friend and ill never forget it”

Christian: “I’ve shed my tears..And from here on out I choose 2celebrate 1 of the greatest careers in WWE history..Cant wait2 induct u in the HOF #Edge”

AWESOME KONG TO MAKE DEBUT

It looks like Awesome Kong is coming to the RAW brand as a vignette aired on tonight’s show before the Divas Title match. The promo showed Kong’s arm and part of her head. She thumped the head off of a blonde baby doll and laughed.

VINCE MCMAHON FURIOUS AT SIN CARA'S ENTRANCE

Vince McMahon was said to be furious at Sin Cara’s botched entrance on RAW last week when he attacked Sheamus. When the botch happened on RAW last night, there were guys watching monitors in the back that were joking around that “that was it” for Cara and Primo would probably be fired out of spite.
