JIM ROSS'S CONTRACT EXPIRES

One of the biggest stories in wrestling right now is that Jim Ross’ latest short-term WWE contract extension is set to expire.
After well over a decade with WWE and playing a crucial role in the company’s success during that period (on and off camera), Ross could very likely become a free agent this weekend. Ross met with TNA President Dixie Carter and her father Bob earlier this month and has several other options on his plate outside of wrestling.
With days until he’s eligible to make some major career path changes, Ross wrote the following on Twitter early this morning:
“I’ve had a blessed and amazing career full of unbelievable experiences. This wk is memorable 4 what hasn’t happened. Blessing n disguise?”

FORMER WWE DIVA CHYNA ACCUSED OF ATTACKING A FRIEND

Former WWE Diva Joanie “Chyna” Laurer has been accused of viciously attacking a female friend in Los Angeles over the weeekend.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Chyna for battery after her accuser, Gabriella Targos, says Chyna got so violent with her she thought she was going to die.
According to TMZ.com, the incident occurred Saturday night at a motel in Sherman Oaks, CA. According to the accuser, Chyna called her and told her to meet her at the motel. When she arrived, she claims Chyna immediately attacking her for no reason – punching her in the face, dragging her by her hair, beating her with a wire hanger and threatening to kill her.
Gabriela says she was able to break free and ran out of the motel room and found a few police officers. So far, no arrests have been made.

THE COLONS VS HART DYNASTY

WWE is planning on putting brothers Carlito and Primo Colon back together on the RAW brand and have them feud with The Hart Dynasty for the Unified Tag Team Titles.

STEVE AUSTIN COMMENTS ON NXT

Steve Austin wrote the following on Twitter yesterday about WWE’s NXT: “im somewhat new to NXT…the wrestlers are selling programs…man, times have changed. big time. Bryan is pretty damn good…first time i ever heard David Otunga talk…kid might turn into a damn good promo one day…”

GREAT KHALI DRAFTED TO RAW BECAUSE OF BIG SHOW

The Great Khali was drafted to RAW in the Draft to make way for Big Show on SmackDown. The feeling was they only want one real big man on each brand and with Show’s gimmick being the world’s largest athlete, it didn’t make much sense to have someone bigger than him on the same show.

FUTURE OF WWE RELEASED SUPERSTAR INCLUDING SHAWN MICHAELS

The feeling is that the WWE releases came because several stars from NXT and WWE developmental are scheduled to be brought to the main roster soon. The recent releases aren’t a budget-cutting move as much as just WWE making way for new members on the roster.
Shelton Benjamin’s contract was releasing soon and there was always frustration internally with him. Shelton had the reputation of being one who coasted through the job and that his promos were never as good as his in-ring work.
Mickie James’ release from WWE didn’t surprise many within the company. Apparently there was talk of cutting her before WrestleMania. Word is that while on the SmackDown brand, Mickie had a few run-ins with Batista and when things became heated, he threatened to quit if she wasn’t fired and Undertaker had to step in and calm things down. It’s said that Mickie’s recent behavior on the European tour was the deciding factor in letting her go.
It’s said that Mike Knox didn’t carry himself like a main eventer backstage but he still had his share of supporters within WWE. At one point, Shawn Michaels and Triple H were among those in favor of pushing Knox.
There was speculation online that Jimmy Wang Yang’s release came after a Wellness violation because he Tweeted “three strikes and your out” after being released. Yang was referring to his third time being fired from the company.
Katie Lea’s release was not something planned in advance because the WWE creative team had her booked to move to SmackDown in the Draft.
It’s said that Slam Master J, son of the late Terry Gordy, mainly had a job because SmackDown head writer Michael Hayes considered him almost like a son. His release came as a bit of a surprise to some because Hayes had always protected him.

HEAT GOING ON BETWEEN ANNOUNCERS IN WWE

There is said to be legit heat between Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. Striker reportedly has a reputation for being an elitist, which is rubbing people the wrong way, as Michael Cole isn’t a fan of Striker’s either. There have been times that Striker wanted to prepare for a show with his broadcast partners but he irritates them so much that they go out of their way to avoid him until showtime.

BACKSTAGE UPDATE ON BATISTA'S CAREER WITH WWE

Batista’s status with WWE is still un-clear after he was expected to be finishing up this past week. Batista is now booked in the main event of May’s Over The Limit pay-per-view against John Cena and booked on WWE live events through June.

BACKSTAGE UPDATE ON VINCE MCMAHON AND FINLAY

Vince McMahon is said to be on a youth kick right now and up for pushing the younger talents in WWE. One veteran who is being affected by this is Finlay. Besides working the occasional live event match, Finlay’s role with the company from here on out will be mainly working backstage.

GOLDBERG INJURED? SHAWN MICHAELS , MARIA, MICKIE JAMES, SHELTON BENJAMIN ADDED TO ALUMNI SECTION

Bill Goldberg wrote the following on Twitter this weekend: “FYI….a torn rotator cuff seems to have halted my training a bit.”

Recent additions to WWE’s Alumni roster include Jim Neidhart, The British Bulldog, Maria, Mickie James, Katie Lea, Shelton Benjamin and Shawn Michaels

WWE HAVING MONEY PROBLEM WITH REY MYSTERIO AND BATISTA

Batista and Rey Mysterio are the most talked about within WWE right now as far as “problems” go.
Batista is upset because WWE removed him from the movie due to uncertainty about his future with the company. Mysterio, who has a long time left on his contract, is apparently making a fuss again about money.
WWE has been trying to make a new Mexican star in case something happens with Mysterio and he leaves the company. WWE realizes that Mexico is it’s hottest market right now. Dos Caras, even though he has been working as a heel, was brought on the road with WWE because there is a directive that the company wants a new Mexican star rolling as quickly as possible.

VINCE McMAHON AND LINDA McMAHON TOGETHER ON TV

Vince McMahon made his first appearance as a part of Linda McMahon’s campaign on April 21st at a charity function at Sacred Heart University, where Linda is on the board. When the host pointed out that Richard Blumenthal, who will be Linda’s opponent if she wins the nomination, was in attendance, Vince got up, grabbed the mic and introduced himself to the audience. Vince then looked at Blumenthal and said, “My name is Vince McMahon and my wife is the one who’s going to beat you this fall.” Vince and Blumenthal later shook hands and Vince joked how his wife was going to “whoop” Blumenthal in the election. Blumenthal tried to laugh off the incident.

MORE ROSTER CHANGES COMING FOR SMACKDOWN

Despite the lack of big name roster moves in this week’s WWE Draft, people within WWE still expect the company to beef up the SmackDown roster before the show moves to SyFy in October.
The feeling is that WWE made the bigger moves to RAW this week because of SmackDown’s current lame duck status on MyNetworkTV. The current plan is to build the brand back up before October.

David Otunga won the WWE NXT Rookie challenge on last night’s show and now will get to face a WWE Superstar of his choice on next Tuesday’s show. Otunga has challenged his NXT Pro R-Truth to a match.

WWE CREATIVE NEWS UPDATE

While the WWE creative team figured they would have a more normal schedule following WrestleMania this year, they were out of their minds this past week with having to re-write RAW due to the travel issues and write the Extreme Rules pay-per-view and the Draft, plus this week’s SmackDown and NXT.

WWE IS GOING TO MAKE SMACKDOWN VS RAW AT BRAGGING RIGHTS

WWE is toying with the idea of having RAW take over SmackDown and SmackDown take over RAW for a week this Summer. This takeover angle has been suggested by someone within WWE for the go-home shows the week of the Bragging Rights pay-per-view in October.

MORE ROSTER CHANGE GOING TO HAPPEN TODAY

In addition to the Supplemental Draft today, WWE made six other roster changes today.
Tyler Reks and Vance Archer were moved from ECW to SmackDown. The remaining ECW talents – Abraham Washington, Tony Atlas and Byron Saxton – were removed.

LAST WEEKS WWE RELEASE CAME FROM WELLNESS FAILURE

Word after last week’s round of WWE releases was that at least one of the releases came from a Wellness failure. No name was given on the failure and WWE hasn’t made anything official, which is unusual.

The feeling is that there will be a few more WWE releases to come in the next few weeks

BIG STORYLINE PLANNED FOR BATISTA

The finish of the John Cena vs. Batista match last night at Extreme Rules was not a big blow-off for Batista because he is going to be working for WWE for a few more weeks, likely through the Over The Limit pay-per-view. A big storyline will likely happen then to write Batista’s character out, for now.

SPECULATION ON MYSTERIOS ATTACKER LAST NIGHT AT EXTREME RULES

There is some speculation going around as to who the attacker from under the ring was at last night’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view during the Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk match.
Joey Mercury was planned to join the Straight Edge Society and by the look he had at last week’s SmackDown tapings, it was him who did the run-in last night. Reports are coming in now that the attacker was WWE developmental star Alex Riley, who briefly appeared on WWE TV last year. To further this rumor, Riley was confirmed to be at the pay-per-view last night and took photos with fans after the show.
Whether it be Mercury or Riley, we should find out for sure at tonight’s WWE Draft or tomorrow night’s SmackDown tapings.

GOLDBERG TALKS MORE ON HIS RETURN TO WWE

MonstersandCritics.com has a new interview up with Bill Goldberg about his departure last week from NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. Goldberg was asked about his talks with WWE and had the following to say:
Monsters and Critics: Are you still continuing your relationship with the World Wrestling – WWE – with McMahon? I mean, I read somewhere that your image and your likeness is going to be used in games for gamers.
Bill Goldberg: Well that’s if we can come to a contractual agreement. But what they’ve put forth right now is something that I will not accept. So is it something that I’m striving for? Absolutely not. Is it something that I would like to happen because I’ve got a little boy and it would wonderful for him to walk in the toy store and to be able to pick up a, you know, his – excuse me, like he says, a baby-daddy figure, you know, that would be awesome.
But that is not going to cloud my business judgment by any stretch of the imagination. It’s been a while since I’ve been involved in the business. And I know there are a number of manufacturers out there that would love to get their hands on Goldberg products. And I’m not like anybody else; I’m going to stand my ground and a deal will be done if it’s to my liking and to my liking only.
