UPDATE ON REY MYSTERIO'S NEW DVD

Silvervision has confirmed that WWE’s upcoming “Rey Mysterio: The Life of a Masked Man” three-disc DVD set will have 2 matches from his ECW days, 6 matches from WCW and 12 matches from WWE.

JOHNY CURTIS PERFORMS IN A DARK MATCH

The dark match before last night’s WWE tapings saw NXT winner Johnny Curtis defeat Alex Riley. Riley spoke before the match and said now that he was on SmackDown, he would show he didn’t need The Miz.

JOHN CENA FILMS FRED THE MOVIE 2 AFTER SMACKDOWN

After last night’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Greensboro, NC, John Cena filmed a wrestling scene for Nickelodeon’s “Fred the Movie 2″ where Cena teamed with his “son” Fred against two bullies.

Cena and Fred came out to their own Titantron video while the bullies came out to Gangrel’s old theme song. After the filming, Cena spoke on the mic and said the movie would be released in October. Sheamus came out and got hit with an Attitude Adjustment to end the show.

WHEN WILL UNDERTAKER RETURN

The Undertaker was backstage at this past Monday’s RAW from Raleigh, NC with Michelle McCool. Sources describe Taker as still hurting and said he gave no indication as to when he would be coming back.

NEWS ON JIM ROSS'S TV APPEARANCES

The idea right now is for Jim Ross to remain on WWE TV for as long as the Michael Cole angle goes on. JR’s segments have done very strong quarter-hour ratings so that may play a factor in WWE keeping him around longer. With that said, at least for now there are no plans for Ross to return to announcing full-time.

NEWS ON WWE'S OWN CABLE NETWORK

The planned WWE cable network is going to be a big part of the company re-branding that is going on. The idea is that they are doing their own network and don’t want it seen as a pro wrestling TV channel.

WWE is looking to air scripted programming and other programming that they can use their marketing concepts with. This would include marketing the characters and even touring with the new shows. The Harlem Globetrotters would be a perfect fit for this new concept but they aren’t doing sports right now. The concept was described as something like High School Musical or Dora the Explorer where you have a program, you merchandise the characters and go on tour.

WWE is also looking at using people like Drew Carey to come up with programming ideas.

The WWE network will feature a lot of wrestling still, with a lot of old footage airing. WWE is currently digitizing some of their footage and trying to upgrade it to HD for the network. The network will also show programs like NXT, Superstars and some of the recap shows that air internationally.

POSSIBLE JOHN CENA VS ALBERTO DEL RIO MATCH AT SUMMERSLAM

Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena is currently planned for SummerSlam, with either the World Heavyweight Title or the WWE Title on the line.

When WWE first booked Extreme Rules, they weren’t planning on having the Draft first. Alberto Del Rio has been planned to win the World Title at the pay-per-view, and then he would have moved to RAW in the June Draft with The Miz keeping the WWE Title at Extreme Rules and taking the belt to SmackDown in June.

With the Draft being held early, there is a strong possibility now that Christian will win the World Title at Extreme Rules. If Christian wins, this would be the third pay-per-view since the Royal Rumble where Del Rio was scheduled to win the title but didn’t.

With Vince McMahon changing things and bringing the Draft sooner in hope of locking in the SummerSlam main events early, plans will be changing.

WHY SIN CARA DRAFTED TO SMACKDOWN?

Some backstage last night at RAW believed that Sin Cara being traded to SmackDown was done mostly so they can edit his matches before they air on TV. WWE didn’t want Cara and Rey Mysterio on the same brand, as both were drafted.

CM PUNK LEAVING WWE SOON??

There has been a lot of talk within WWE that CM Punk’s career with the company may be coming to an end soon. Word is that Punk has not re-signed a new deal and that’s the reason he’s been downplayed as of late. If you notice Punk getting pushed out of nowhere, that probably means he’s re-signed. The topic of Punk leaving WWE started on the European tour and continued at RAW last night.

Apparently Punk has also been telling people close to him that he’s interested in taking some time off. We hope to have more later.

ROCK COMMENTS ON RUSSIA TOUR AND DOMINATES CENA AGAIN

The Rock posted a photo of him leaving Russia yesterday where he has been promoting Fast Five and he was standing on top of a purple John Cena t-shirt. Rock commented: “Team Bring It Russia – thank u for the incredible love. I will return! (Cena, look closely.. u will ALWAYS be dominated by Team Bring It)”

KANE APPEARING ON KMART

One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions Kane will be appearing at the Kmart on Aurora Avenue in Seattle, Washington on May 22nd at 1pm. A wristband policy is in effect and the signing is open to the first 300 fans.

WHY WWE KEPT JOHN CENA ON RAW??

Despite John Cena being drafted back to RAW last night, there was talk up until Sunday night of keeping him on the SmackDown brand with the idea that Randy Orton was a hot enough babyface to carry RAW on his own. Obviously WWE decided against that and sent Orton to SmackDown instead.

MORE ON EDGE'S RETIRMENT

As noted before, Edge has legitimately retired from WWE due to issues with his neck that haven’t been improving. Edge had been talking about retiring in two years but told someone as recent as a few weeks ago that he felt like he had five more years left.

It’s said that Edge has some writing projects that he will be working on and that he knows what he wants to do with his life and those plans don’t have much to do with wrestling. The feeling is that Edge will always stay affiliated with WWE but won’t be someone you see working full time behind-the-scenes as an agent or something.

Regarding Edge and the World Heavyweight Title, there was some confusion at RAW last night as to why WWE didn’t put Alberto Del Rio over at WrestleMania 27 if they knew there was even a small chance that Edge would be leaving soon.

While WWE’s announcement notes that Edge got his MRI results the Monday after WrestleMania, sources indicate that he’s been feeling more intense pain for a few weeks now but didn’t think he would be forced to retire. Had they known Edge would have to retire, more emphasis would have been put on the WrestleMania match to make it feel more special.

NEWS ON JOHN MORRISON AND TRISH STRATUS

The feeling at RAW last night among some was that John Morrison would have got R-Truth’s spot in the WWE Title Triple Threat at Extreme Rules if it weren’t for the heat on him right now for his actions towards Trish Stratus.

MIZ TALKS ABOUT ROCK, WRESTLEMANIA 28, FANS

WWE Champion The Miz spoke with The Miami Herald this week. Here are some highlights:

Fans’ reaction to him:
“The fans always cheer me at events like Axxess or the press conferences. Then at live events they boo me, but show me the respect I deserve. They didn’t do that three years ago, when they literally hated me and couldn’t stand me. They changed the channel, when I was on TV. Now I think I’m starting to earn their respect, which is good.”

The Rock:
“The Rock was my favorite growing up. He has always been my favorite. I was able to get in there and upstage him and literally show him that I’m better. It’s like when you see an icon or someone you idolize when you are younger. Then you are in the ring with him and are able to show him up. To show everyone you are better than your idol, there is nothing better than that.”

WrestleMania 28 in Miami:
“I will still be the main event. I plan on still being the WWE champion. I plan on being the longest reigning WWE champion of all time. It’s just the type of person I am. I am always aiming to be number one and the best. So I will be the champion, the main event and everything everyone else isn’t.”

NEWS ON EDGE'S RETIREMENT, WORLD TITLE MATCH AT EXTREME RULES

As noted before, Edge will hand over the World Heavyweight Title at tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings. WWE has removed the World Title Ladder Match from their Extreme Rules line-up.

One idea discussed for tonight’s SmackDown tapings has Edge hand-picking Christian to take his place against Alberto Del Rio in the Ladder Match, which would be for the vacant World Heavyweight Title belt.

POSSIBLE CORRE MATCH AT EXTREME RULES

There has been talk of putting The Corre in a multi-man match at Extreme Rules with Wade Barrett’s Intercontinental Title on the line and Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater’s Tag Team Titles on the line.

NATALYA AND CHRISTIAN TALKS ABOUT EDGE'S RETIREMENT

Natalya and Christian have took to Twitter and commented on their friend Edge retiring. Here’s what they wrote:

Natalya: “My thoughts are with Edge, and thank you so much for the wonderful memories. You’re a real, true friend and ill never forget it”

Christian: “I’ve shed my tears..And from here on out I choose 2celebrate 1 of the greatest careers in WWE history..Cant wait2 induct u in the HOF #Edge”

AWESOME KONG TO MAKE DEBUT

It looks like Awesome Kong is coming to the RAW brand as a vignette aired on tonight’s show before the Divas Title match. The promo showed Kong’s arm and part of her head. She thumped the head off of a blonde baby doll and laughed.

VINCE MCMAHON FURIOUS AT SIN CARA'S ENTRANCE

Vince McMahon was said to be furious at Sin Cara’s botched entrance on RAW last week when he attacked Sheamus. When the botch happened on RAW last night, there were guys watching monitors in the back that were joking around that “that was it” for Cara and Primo would probably be fired out of spite.

UPDATED CARD FOR EXTREME RULES PPV

Below is the updated card for WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, coming out of tonight’s RAW:

Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Title
Alberto Del Rio vs. Edge

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title
John Cena vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz

Tag Team Match
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole and Jack Swagger

The World Title match is still listed by WWE after Edge announced his retirement on tonight’s RAW. Obviously the match won’t take place but as of now, it’s still on the line-up.

EDGE'S RETIREMENT IS NOT FAKE, ITS LEGIT

WWE sources indicate that the Edge retirement from tonight’s RAW is 100% legitimate and not part of a storyline.

The story that Edge told about tests coming back and showing issues with his neck are true. Edge was handed a mic at RAW tonight and told to go out and say bye however he wanted.

No word yet what will happen to the World Heavyweight Title.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF EDGE'S RETIREMENT FROM WWE

Below is WWE’s official announcement on Edge retiring from their website:
Less than a week after his successful title defense against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII, World Heavyweight Champion Edge has been forced to retire from in-ring competition due to injury. The unexpected news brings to an end a storied WWE career spanning 13 years and consisting of 11 World Title reigns.
The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI in Atlanta last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.
In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.
