JIM ROSS TALKS ABOUT MICK FOLEY, FANDANGO VS JERICHO, ROCK VS JOHN CENA, RIC FLAIR AND MORE

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has published a new blog entry on JrsBarBq.com. Here are some highlights.

Terry Funk Inducting Mick Foley: "Great choice by Mick Foley to select Terry Funk to induct Mr. Foley's baby boy at the 2013 WWE HOF induction ceremony. The Funker is Mick's mentor and idol. I think it's pretty cool when a Hall of Fame inductee can actually have their all time favorite wrestler, their father like figure within the business and their role model as it relates to in ring style and approach to the game induct them."

Ric Flair's Medical Situation: "Got a text from Ric Flair early this morning and Naitch is feeling great and has been provided medication to dissolve the blood clot that is in his leg. The doctor's are highly optimistic that the meds will do the trick and eliminate a potentially, dangerous issue. Ric and I will get together Wednesday evening in Jersey to catch up which is one of our WrestleMania traditions."

Fandango vs. Y2J: "Fandango is a lightning rod right now because many or perhaps a few vocal 'fans' don't like the TV persona even though they have yet to see it fully on display in a match of significance. I'm of the persuasion that I'll reserve my opinions until I actually see the talent get it on bell to bell. Chris Jericho is the perfect opponent to perform with Fandango at WM29 because Jericho is all about stealing the show ala the great @ShawnMichaels no matter Y2J's role. Fandango can also expect Jericho to beat the hell out of him along the way. Believe that!"

The Rock vs. John Cena: "Enjoying the serious nature that the Rock/Cena rivalry has taken the past few weeks and it is a departure from 2012 or so it seems to me. Closing a WrestleMania with such high expectations and having a 'different' match than last year are tremendous responsibilities notwithstanding the fact that the match is for the WWE Title which should be the primary issue. Cena vs. Rock is a target of varying levels of controversy from some fans but pales in comparison to what their own peers will place upon the show closers in their own matches at WM29."

JOHN CENA INVITES ROCK FOR SURVIVOR SERIES MATCH

John Cena extended an invite to The Rock on tonight’s RAW Supershow to team with him at the Survivor Series pay-per-view next month to face the team of The Miz and R-Truth.

It appears this is the match that will see The Rock’s return to the ring as the two have been advertised to team together for over a month now.

This appears to be a change in original plans as the two were going to team in a traditional Survivor Series match.

UPDATE ON CM PUNK'S WWE TITLE SHOT

CM Punk is scheduled to feud with WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio for the next few WWE pay-per-views and the company is getting ready to go “full blown” with his push after being surprised by recent merchandise numbers.

There has been a lot of talk that Punk will win the WWE Title in late 2011 or early 2012 and carry it into WrestleMania 28.

WWE officials do not want the WWE Title to be a part of John Cena and The Rock’s match at WrestleMania.

ROCK VS JOHN CENA 200 DAYS TO GO

WWE officials are reportedly trying very hard to get The Rock to wrestle at the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

The original idea was for him to appear and do an angle but not wrestle until the match with John Cena at WrestleMania 28 but now they want him to wrestle in November. As noted before, there has also been discussion of doing a best of 3 series between the two.

Whether or not The Rock should wrestle or not at Survivor Series was a controversial topic of discussion within WWE this past week.

ANOTHER ATTITUDE ERA WRESTLER TO STEP IN TO RING IN 2012

Another Big Name "Attitude Era" WWE Star To Return In 2012?

Following a several year break, "The Informer" is once again in WWE Magazine. Though the monthly column largely consisted of made-up stories, it would at times correctly predict future storylines. The feature is now branded as "WWE gossip" and appears to be a mashup of kayfabe and legitimate backstage tales. Highlights from the October 2011 edition are as follows:

* "Would a certain A-list Hollywood celeb please stop calling our offices in hopes of landing a Raw guest-star slot? You had your chance already, pal!"

* "I hear a top-level, WWE Hall of Fame-bound Superstar suggested that Natalya use the double sharpshooter at 2010's WWE TLC."

* "During a recent photo shoot, a Superstar demanded that the makeup artist stop touching up the Divas and focus her attention on him!"

* "A source tells us that The Rock isn't the only Attitude Era Superstar planning to step in the ring in 2012. Hint: There's an "E" in his name."

MATTEL TO RELEASE CENA VS ROCK ACTION FIGURE FOR WRESTLEMANIA

Variety reports today that Mattel will be releasing a John Cena vs. The Rock set of action figures to commemorate their WrestleMania 28 match. They also note that during the first half of 2011, WWE action figures were the top-sellers beating out brands like GI Joe, Batman, Iron Man, Spider Man and others.

CM PUNK TALKS ABOUT ROCK, CHANGES IN WWE

WWE Champion CM Punk spoke with Mark Madden on his Pittsburgh radio show this past Monday to promote SummerSlam. Punk was asked if he now has creative control in WWE. Punk said he doesn’t like that term and said control is bad. He noted that he has input now but added that everyone always has input. Madden asked Punk if things have really change in WWE or if it’s just another McMahon being the star of the show.

“I think things aren’t going to change over night,” Punk said. “A few little things have already changed. Just the face they’re listening to different people is a step in the right direction. It’s going to take a while. Obviously I’m one who’s an advocate for any kind of change. Getting guys like Zack Ryder on TV is a step in the right direction. He’s entertaining, that’s the bottom line. Is he going to main event WrestleMania this year? No. Maybe he will in a couple of years, you never know. I’m just happy what little change has been implemented thus far has been implemented.”

Punk says people have been making comparisons to what’s happening now and the Attitude Era but added that he isn’t trying to fill Steve Austin’s shoes. Punk is trying to do something completely different – make it fun again, he said. Punk said he hopes he is making everyone tune in next week to see what’s going on because that’s his goal.

Regarding John Cena, Punk acknowledged that he has said some nasty things about his SummerSlam opponent but put him over as someone who loves what he does and a hard worker for WWE. Punk said everything he has said about “Dwayne” is absolutely 100% true.

“I’m in a position now where I think I can call guys out on it,” Punk said about The Rock. “I have no personal problems against Dwayne. It’s very frustrating being here and watch a guy come in and get credit for a WrestleMania buyrate when he didn’t do anything on the show. He certainly didn’t do anything entertaining. There’s a line he crossed at some point where I think he is just as out of touch as the Vince McMahons and everybody else. I’m not calling Rock old, he’s still obviously a young physical fit guy but his ideas are old and his shtick is corny in my opinion. Hopefully when my ideas are old and my shtick is corny, there’s some young punk that’s going to call me out on it. Hopefully Dwayne takes it as, “ok when I come here I have to step it up”, and hopefully he does.”

FUTURE PLANS FOR ROCK

Provided his movie commitments don’t get in the way, WWE is going with the idea that The Rock will make an appearance at next year’s big three shows – the Royal Rumble and SummerSlam pay-per-views, and of course WrestleMania 28 to wrestle John Cena. Rock is also scheduled for a Survivor Series appearance this year and officials are hoping they can squeeze more appearances out of him.

CENA TALKS WITH FANS ABOUT ROCK AND HIS MOCKERIES ABOUT HIM

WWE Champion John Cena took some time to answer fan questions on Twitter yesterday. A fan asked Cena on who he thinks is stronger – The Rock or himself. Cena replied with the following:

“No shorting the Rock for all of his abilities …but I can say with confidence, I am stronger than him. That does not make me better, just stronger. So don’t go and take that out of context. He is much quicker and probally a better overall athlete, but strength belongs 2 me.”

A fan then pointed out how The Rock has been insulting John Cena’s fans. Cena replied:

“I don’t get that part. He can call me anything and everything he wants…I just don’t get that part.”

Cena was then asked if he thinks The Rock is “gay.” Cena’s response:

“That is the last one I will answer because of how ridiculous it is. My answer. Why should it matter? No take it as is. Why should a persons sexuality matter? He is a great entertainer. I will admit. I have made some mistakes in the past but I now realize that it shouldn’t matter what race creed color sexual preference age u are. If your good. You’re good. Trying to pick something like that as a persons flaw is about the most ignorant thing that can be done. Don’t be that person. Step your game up. So it IS what it IS. Gay or straight. To quote “Dwayne”, “it doesn’t matter!”"

BREAKING NEWS: ROCK VS JOHN CENA AT WRESTLEMANIA 28 MIGHT NOT HAPPEN

Speaking of The Rock and John Cena, Dave Meltzer reports that their WrestleMania 28 match may be in jeopardy as one high-ranking WWE employee with lots of influence is against the big showdown in Miami next year. While this official doesn't want the match to happen, most feel that it still will take place.
