Former WWE performer Gregory Shane Helms has been cited by police for allegedly engaging in a fight at a bar in Smithfield, North Carolina.
Gregory Shane Helms, 36, and Kevin Wayne Creech, 38, were both cited for simple affray following an altercation at approximately 10:00 p.m. last night at a bar called The Rehab.
Police said Creech reportedly touched Helms’ girlfriend, which led to the confrontation. The touch was “not inappropriate” but it reportedly led to an argument then a brief struggle between the two men. Both men were released at the scene but were ordered to appear in court on April 28 to answer charges.
In May 2008, Helms was charged with assault following an alleged incident at another club in Smithfield. Those charges were dismissed in July 2008.

Reason of Why WWE might have to Suspend Hurricane
As noted before, Gregory Helms was found with a single soma pill in his bag when arrested with Chris Jericho. If Helms didn’t have a prescription for the drug like he claimed and even though the police aren’t charging him for it, WWE would be forced to suspend him for 60 days on his second Wellness violation. WWE’s current policy says that every prescription a wrestler has is supposed to be filed ahead of time with Dr. David Black. All prescriptions are supposed to be written by the company doctors who travel with the WWE crew. Helms has a previous violation against him for his name coming up in the Signature Pharmacy scandal in 2007 and has never failed a WWE drug test.
There has been a lot of talk backstage regarding Helms’ future with WWE after the incident. Based on the success of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view which he was pulled from, Helms missed out on a payoff from the show that would have been around $5,000.
It’s said that Helms was apologetic to WWE officials for the incident.

Hurricane Helms worked last night’s ECW in interview with William Regal & Ezekiel Jackson that saw him get beat down. Helms’ incident last week was brought up in the opening segment of ECW where his mugshot photo was shown on the big screen. Several references to Helms’ arrest were made throughout the show but there was never a mention of what he was actually charged with or Chris Jericho.

Gregory Helms Found with a Narcotic When Arrested
WWE Superstar Gregory Helms, who was arrested along with Chris Jericho last Wednesday for public intoxication, was in possession of one muscle-relaxer, according to the police report that was obtained by TMZ.
The report stated, “a search of Helm‘s purse revealed one white round pill.” Cops say the pill found in his possession was a Soma, which is the generic version of the muscle relaxer Carisoprodol and a “schedule four narcotic.”
The report also states that Helms told cops he had a prescription for the pill but was unable to show proof of it at the time of his arrest. Cops did not pursue charges against Helms for the possession of the narcotic.
TMZ contacted WWE headquarters, but as of press time, they have not called back for comment.

Mugshot of Hurricane/Jericho, News on Honky Tonky Man
Dave Meltzer reports that Matt Hardy was running after Hurricane Helms, telling him to go back to the scene of the incident or he would get in even more trouble. Word is that Helms and Jericho were bailed out by fellow WWE Superstars CM Punk and Christian.
Sources within WWE are saying that Helms never hit the woman in the taxi as TMZ reported.
Several sources within WWE also said that this incident came as no surprise to them. Some feel that Helms, more than anyone else involved, is in jeopardy of losing his job over the incident.
It was interesting that Helms was featured this morning on WWE’s website as the Superstar of the Day. Helms was later pulled from the website and replaced with Cody Rhodes.
Jim Ross wrote about it on his website with the following comments: “TMZ making a semi big deal about a situation that Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms found themselves in this week. Both these guys are great people and are credits to the biz and I suggest that this well could be much to do about not much. No one should rush to judgment about this issue especially since neither individual has addressed there side of this overblown story. This matter definitely deserves a “Lighten Up Francis.” Wrestling needs more hard working, students of the game who are still fans of the biz like Jericho and Helms.”
Randy Orton vs. John Cena vs. Sheamus for the WWE Title is being advertised as the RAW dark main events for shows leading up to WrestleMania in March.
WWE Legend The Honky Tonk Man has apparently declined WWE’s offer to join the 2010 Hall of Fame. Below is the story from Honky’s website:
“HTM declined the WWE offer to be inducted into the HOF class of 2010. There were multiple reasons why HTM decided against this induction. Negotiations started Friday Jan. 22 and carried over till Wed. Jan. 27 at which time HTM informed WWE that he would not be interested in this years induction into their HOF.
One of the main reasons was a conflict in the schedule. HTM is booked for the Wizard World Comic Con in Toronto for the same date WWE wanted. HTM felt he should stand by his Wizard booking since they had put out publicity on his appearance to be there. Also the Wizard booking has been on his books since early December. WWE had more than enough time to get their date locked in with HTM.
Wizard has HTM booked for 7 events this year and WWE had only 1 event for HTM. HTM would have suffered a serious negative cash flow by taking the WWE booking since they want a “no compete” clause over several months after the HOF. HTM would have been handcuffed with no way to provide income for his family during the “no compete’ months. The dollar figure from WWE for the one event was less than HTM could make in one weekend at Wizard World. Therefore HTM decided 7 dates with Wizard would mean 10 times the money WWE was offering and Wizard does not have a “no compete” clause.
This is just one of several reasons HTM decided to waive the WWE offer and commit to Wizard. There will be more reasons revealed why HTM made this decision in the coming weeks. There are several, but the TNA deal was not one of them.”

ECW on SyFy Report – January 12th, 2010
Highlights of the eight ECW Homecoming finalists were shown advancing in past weeks with Tiffany’s voice explaining the concept. A graphic was put up and Josh Matthews said tonight’s winner will face Christian at the Royal Rumble…
The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Matthews and Byron Saxton welcomed us to the show. Rosa Mendes came out to her own theme music and shook her ass a little bit. She introduced the man who ended Tommy Dreamer’s career, Zack Ryder. Ryder came out to the ring.
Ryder said it was big night with all of the huge names in the back. He said they were all there to celebrate the new heart and soul of ECW. Ryder said he was above the ECW Championship, because he was ECW. “Woo woo woo, you know it.”
The Hurricane came out to the ring. He just updated his Facebook page about the minutes ago. Hurricane told Ryder to shut his mouth. Rosa yelled at him in Spanish. Helms asked, “I’m sorry, could you press one for English?” Funny. Rosa slapped him. Hurricane attacked and disposed of Ryder…
A graphic for the eight man battle royal was shown…
Zack Ryder (with Rosa Mendes) defeated The Hurricane in approximately 5:51. Matthews explained that Tiffany made this match during the break. The match was joined in progress. Ryder scored a nearfall with a leg lariat. He dominated and scored more nearfalls.
Hurricane fought back with a jawbreaker followed by a neckbreaker. Hurricane went to the top rope and Zack crotched him. Hurricane fell awkwardly back into the ring. Zack hit the Zack Attack for the win…
C.M. Punk cut a promo backstage about taking over ECW and starting his Straight Edge Society…
Footage was shown of the three Super Bowl (Vince Lombardi) trophies won by the Green Bay Packers. Double that, and you’ll have the Pittsburgh Steelers. Maybe they should rename Title Town…
Trent Barreta (with Caylen Croft) defeated Goldust in 4:50. Goldust sent Barreta to the floor. Goldust charged to attempt a shoulder block, but Barreta jumped and paused in the air, and came down with his leg across the neck of Goldust. Saxton, apparently never watching ROH or TNA, said he has never seen the move before
Goldust hit a powerslam and followed two big closelines. He scored a two count after a bulldog. He tried the Shattered Dreams (delayed reverse suplex), but Barreta flipped out of it. He followed with a huge running to the face for the win…
Backstage, William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson both spoke in a short promo putting over Jackson’s chances to win tonight. Kane was shown walking through the backstage area as his music played…
he Raw Rebound focused of course on Mike Tyson teasing, then siding with, DX. Upon further review, the heavy bag stand Tyson had in his dressing room is the exact same one I have…
Savannah introduced Tiffany and Tiffany came out to absolutely no reaction. That is on the crowd. Tiffany has been good in her role. She explained what was about to take place. She then introduced Christian, who would be part of the announce team for the main event…
C.M. Punk and Yoshi Tatsu made their entrances…
Ezekiel Jackson won a battle royal that included Kane, Yoshi Tatsu, Vance Archer, Shelton Benjamin, Evan Bourne, C.M. Punk, and Matt Hardy to become the number one contender for the ECW Championship in 13:53. Back from commercial, Archer and Kane received full entances. Shelton attacked Archer before Kane even had a chance to come out.
Evan Bourne was the first to go after jumping at Kane and being thrown by the throat over the top and to the floor. Damn. Christian called Kane the favorite, so that means he is not. Kane and Hardy reminisced about Lita in the sack while double teaming Archer. They broke into full battle royal mode, which is relaxing for me covering the show.
Christian had a pre-written list of questions, almost foreshadowing a heel turn. He said his current title reign put him in the conversation of best ECW Champions ever. The announcers said he was arrogant. In the ring, Punk kept avoiding elimination in classic battle royal style
Nobody was eliminated during the break. Christian asked and answered one of his own questions. Saxton said the winner of the Homecoming would defeat Christian. Wow, that was ballsy. Shelton jumped over the top onto Archer, who was on the apron, and both men fell to the floor.
Jackson slammed Hardy over the top, but Hardy held onto the ropes. Jackson kicked Hardy’s hands and Matt was eliminated. Nice. Christian praised Jackson’s power but called him stupid. Jackson then surprisingly eliminated Punk. Kane eliminated Yoshi Tatsu.
Kane and Ezekiel Jackson were the final two men in the battle royal. Somewhere, Vince McMahon was very happy. Zeke picked up Kane and tried to missile him to the floor. Zeke fought out of a chokeslam, but Kane hit a big boot. He missed a top rope closeline. Zeke closelined Christian to the floor and won the match…
William Regal entered the ring and celebrated with Jackson as they both stared a hole through Christian. Zeke made belt motions as Christian showed off his belt. Jackass Saxton said we would have a new ECW Champion at the Rumble…
