More on NXT, Backlash, Inoki Update

Tickets for the 4/25 WWE Backlash PPV at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, Maryland will go on sale on 3/6 with tickets ranging $200 down to $20.

- Antonio Inoki noted at the WWE Hall of Fame acceptance ceremony in Japan that he would also be attending WrestleMania that week. WWE’s Ed Wells presented Inoki with a Hall of Fame certificate at the ceremony.

- As noted before, WWE has been going back and forth on whether or not to have veterans on the new NXT show. Word now is that the show will still feature veterans from other brands to help draw ratings. Apparently there will be regular appearances from WWE Superstars on the show to “mentor and hinder” the new talents on NXT.

Dark Match on Raw, Update on Jericho

The three-disc collector’s edition of WWE’s WrestleMania 26 will be released on DVD on May 4th, 2010.

- The dark main event after last night’s RAW in Lafayette saw John Cena defeat WWE Champion Sheamus by DQ.

- Chris Jericho noted on Twitter yesterday that he had written 78 pages of his new book with 250 left to write. Jericho said he has to turn the book into publishers in three weeks.

- Below is a photo of Antonio Inoki from his WWE Hall of Fame acceptance party in Japan last night. Stan Hansen has been confirmed as the inductor for Inoki. Here’s the photo:

Update on Wrestlemania, Joey Mercury, Morrison turning heel

While several sources are reporting that Joey Mercury has already signed a WWE contract to return, many people had no idea about him coming back backstage at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

- WWE is planning on promoting WrestleMania weekend in Phoenix this year so hard that hopefully fans won’t have any interest in attending the other wrestling shows that weekend such as DGUSA and Ring of Honor. They’re also looking at keeping the WWE talents extra busy so they don’t have time to attend the shows either.

- There has been talk within WWE of turning John Morrison heel again.

Rock speaks on his WWE Return

In a radio interview with Boston’s Mix 104 this week, Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson shed some new light on his upcoming WWE return, which is expected to take place this summer.

When asked if he plans on wrestling a match, The Rock said:

“How I would come back is a different capacity than what Hulk Hogan did or I believe Ric Flair is doing. Those guys are coming back to actually wrestle. I don’t want to wrestle; I have no intention of wrestling a match.”

The Rock plans on having a major impact on WWE programming and could serve as a semi-permanent RAW Guest host for the entire summer:

“I do have intention of going back and hosting the show. Hosting a show like that would give me the opportunity to get on the microphone, rip open the writing, and invite guests on to come host with me. We wanted to create something cool and big and fun for the audience.”
