This past Friday, John Cena surpassed Pedro Morales with more days spent as WWE Champion. As of today, Cena has held the WWE Title a total of 1,030 days over his 9 reigns. Cena is currently #4 on the list behind #3 Bob Backlund, #2 Hulk Hogan and #1 Bruno Sammartino.
If you include Cena’s 2 reigns with the World Heavyweight Title, Cena’s total days as a major champion in WWE is 1,133. If Cena keeps the WWE Title until SummerSlam on August 14th, he will pass Triple H’s total 1,148 days as a WWE Champion & World Champion, based off Triple H’s 8 WWE Title reigns and 5 World Heavyweight Title reign

CM PUNK SIGNED A 5 YEAR DEAL?
WWE reportedly offered CM Punk a five-year deal at one point. No word yet if what he ended up signing was for that long.
Regarding Punk and Vince McMahon, it’s said that Punk now has Vince’s ear when it comes to ideas. It was described as similar to Shawn Michaels year ago when he began moving up in the company and Vince would bounce ideas off Shawn, or Shawn would suggest ideas to Vince.

JR TALKS ABOUT JOHN CENA, RANDY ORTON AND CM PUNK
Jim Ross is back with a new blog update on jrsbarbq.com. Here are just a few highlights:
- Is Randy Orton’s ‘timing’ the best ever in the business? Very subjective question that covers way too much ground for me to accurately answer if there even is an accurate answer. Randy does have innate timing but is Mr. RKO’s timing better than Randy’s Dad Bob Orton, Jr. in his prime? Timing and being throughly comfortable in the ring is a gift for many who seem to have it in their DNA while others have to work diligently to develop that in ring trait.
- Is John Cena THAT controversial? Depends on what context with which one is speaking but I’d certainly say that Cena is definitely a polarizing individual. There’s no mid ground as it relates to most fans opinion on Cena as they either like him or they don’t. As a former head of talent relations, Cena is a dream to work with and has a legit, blue collar work ethic.
- Is CM Punk the next Steve Austin? I hope not. I hope that Punk is simply the best CM Punk that he can be. The best for Punk has yet to come in my view. Punk being compared to Austin is inevitable because both are ‘defiant’ and ‘anti establishment’ persona’s but their in ring styles, body types, etc are distinctly different.

CM PUNK COMMENTS ON COLT CABANA, HIS TIME WITH WWE
The Chicago Reader spoke with Colt Cabana and CM Punk this past week about Cabana’s release from WWE and more. Here are some quotes:
Colt Cabana on his time with WWE and his departure:
“I was just another guy in their system. It was a very negative vibe. You start doubting everything about yourself as a wrestler. All the confidence you ever had gets beaten out of you. I was investing in my future. I said, ‘I’m going to take the hit on money here because I know I’m doing the right thing. In four years, I’m going to be on global television. I’m going to be a big star. I don’t look like [WWE star] John Cena. I don’t have these giant muscles. But I do have a natural charisma. Wrestling needs to be different, and I have a way different style than all these guys. I wasn’t given a chance to shine like that. So next thing you know, I get four matches, I lose all of them, I get thrown out of battle royals, and I get fired.”
“Those first few months were depressing. I grew up watching the WWF; it’s all I wanted to do. They told me that I wasn’t good enough. Me knowing that that was a lie—that I just didn’t get the right opportunity—was fucking heartbreaking. I had to move back with my parents. It was awful.”
CM Punk on Colt’s time with WWE:
“At times, I think the people who love wrestling are punished. He’s a guy that would and could do anything. For anybody to say, ‘We have nothing for you’ to him is laughable. I speak my mind. Our system is broken, and the proof is letting a talent of Colt’s caliber slip through the cracks.”
CM Punk on mentioning Colt on WWE TV:
“Having the platform to say things on live television would be a total waste if I wasn’t trying to help my friends. It’d be one thing if he sucked, but he’s a goldmine. I believe everybody needs to witness his brilliance.”
Colt on going back to WWE:
“My goal is to go back to WWE. I’d like to be successful and get a real opportunity. But the reason I’m doing podcasts and comedy and trying everything out is that I just can’t wait for them to say, ‘Hey Colt, we like you now’—which a lot of wrestlers do. They wrestle, but they’re not making moves; they’re just hoping they’ll be picked. I can’t afford to do that.”
Punk on being proud of Cabana:
“I’m extremely proud of him. Fired on a Friday, booked on Saturday. He hustles like nobody else I know. I honestly can’t say I’d have the stomach for it after making it to the WWE. However, it boils down to his love of wrestling. It’s his art. It’s his livelihood. He’s proven to be a talent that can transcend wrestling.”

INJURY UPDATE OF JOHN MORISSON
John Morrison spoke with WWE.com this week about his return to action on RAW. Regarding his recovery from injury, Morrison said:
“Aside from the neck surgery to repair herniated disks and drilling through some bone to relieve some pressure on the nerves in my arm, I had to do a lot of rehab to try to repair motion paths that were thrown out of whack by nerve damage. Nerves are a very frustrating thing because you can’t force them to get better like you can a muscle. They don’t respond to effort and physical therapy – nerves just take time. In the meantime, I’ve been trying to stay in shape while not training in ways that mess up the biomechanics of my body.”

DOMINO OF DEUCE AND DOMINO TO RETURN SOON?

TRIPLE H TO TURN HEEL AND FEUD WITH CM PUNK?
At one of time, WWE was thinking to turn Triple H heel, and make a feud against CM Punk. However the idea is dropped or still in business yet to be confirmed. Due to huge fan support of Punk, Triple H can easily turn punk into face and become heel.
WWE WANTED ALBERTO DEL RIO TO BECOME CHAMPION AND GO TO MEXICO
As noted yesterday, WWE overhauled the SummerSlam card on Monday after deciding that their creative plans for CM Punk at the event were “awful.” This caused Alberto Del Rio to be removed from the WWE Title picture once again.
Del Rio is still scheduled to be WWE Champion at some point in the near future. Those close to the booking situation indicate that John Cena vs. Del Rio for the belt is planned for September but that could always change.
Part of the reason WWE wanted Del Rio as WWE Champion at SummerSlam is because of the Los Angeles market and the hope that they would draw from the Latin community. There was also a long-term plan of Del Rio being champion when WWE returns to Mexico in October with the idea that the would be the first Mexican to hold a WWE Title in Mexico while they were taping TV there for the first time. Del Rio going back to Mexico as WWE Champion is seen as a way to broaden the fan base in what is currently the company’s strongest market.

OBSESSED FAN HARASSING MARYSE
WWE Diva Maryse is featured on TMZ this morning talking about a 61 year-old male fan who is obsessed with her. Maryse has filed for a permanent restraining order and told TMZ that she fears for her life. Here’s what TMZ wrote:
WWE star Maryse Ouellet claims an “extremely disturbing and delusional” man is OBSESSED with her … and now she’s asked a judge for protection after he allegedly promised to “take me to heaven with him.”
Maryse — a WWE diva who’s been romantically linked with former WWE champion The Miz — filed a request for a permanent restraining order against 61-year-old Lee Silber … claiming he has sent “numerous terrifying letters to my home and left more than 50 voicemails on my personal cell phone all of which are extremely disturbing and delusional.”
In one of the letters Maryse claims she received from Silber, he promises to “not only give you a check for $100,000, but give you a 100 carat diamond ring worth $20,000,000 to prove I am your friend.”
Maryse says Silber’s letters have gotten scarier over the last few weeks … with Silber promising that he will be “coming to LA for me” … and will “take me to heaven with him.”
In the docs, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Maryse states, “I fear for my life.”
Maryse tells TMZ she’s beefed up security at her home recently … calling Silber a “crazy stalker … who needs to either be in a psychiatric hospital or jail!”
Maryse is due back in court August 3rd.
TMZ placed several calls to Silber for comment — so far, no response.

WHY BIG SHOW AND KANE TOOK TIME OFF?
Big Show is taking a few months off to rest up with the feeling that it’s best for him to rotate in and out for the benefit of his long-term health, especially at this stage of his career. Kane is taking time off for similar reasons and to help get Mark Henry over for a potential feud with Randy Orton.

Christian hit the Killswitch and got the win.

New Nexus came out to Justin Gabriel’s theme song. Weird. The Uso Brothers showed a lot of energy and worked in some double team moves. However, McGillicutty hit his neckbreaker to get the win for his team.
