SMACKDOWN REPORT 2/26

We begin tonight’s show with a look back at the Smackdown brand Elimination Chamber match for the World Title featuring Shawn Michaels coming from under the chamber to give Undertaker Sweet Chin Music to allow Chris Jericho to get the win.
We are live on tape from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and your announcers are Todd ‘My Favroite Viking’ Grisham and Matt ‘My Mommy Got me a Thesaurus for my birthday’ Striker.
Just like on Monday night, Chris Jericho comes out to address the crowd. We even get to see some of the footage from Monday night when Jericho gloated about his title win at Elimination Chamber only to be speared by Edge and told that Chris Jericho would in fact be his opponent.
Jericho reminds us that he is the World Champion. He says that after fifteen months of clawing and scraping his way, he is back where he belongs. He is in the ring with the title belt in his hands. He wants the camera man to zoomit so we can see the name plate on the belt. Chris says that Monday was supposed to be his inauguration ball and his chance for the failures in the crowd to bask in his success. It was a way to glorify his achievements and get the respect he deserves from the fans. Chris points out that it didn’t happen because of Edge. Jericho says that he did not deserve it and then he says it a few more times until . . .
Edge’s music plays and he comes to the ring. Edge gets a mic and after soaking in the chants of his name, he tells Chris that as much as he hates to do it, he has to congratulate Chris. Edge points out that Chris walked into the Elimination Chamber and then walked out as the champion. Jericho says he did it because he is the best in the world at what he does. Edge says that Jericho is the best in the world at getting speared by him. Edge points out Jericho beat Steve Austin and the Rock in one night . . . spear. He defeated Shawn Michaels in his own match . . . spear. He beat 3 WWE Hall of Famers in one match at Wrestlemania last year . . . spear spear. He beat the Undertaker twice . . . spear spear spear. He walked into the Elimination Chamber and walked out as the World Champion . . . spear spear spear spear spear spear spear spear spear spear (I might have missed five or six). Edge tells Chris that he has a feeling that those spears aren’t getting to him physically . . . Edge stops as the crowd starts to chant ‘spear’. He says that the spears are getting to him mentally. He sees doubt in the world beater’s eyes. He says that Jericho can’t look at him. He wonders if Jericho doesn’t think he can beat him.
Jericho says that he can beat Edge. Edge says that he sees doubt in his eyes. Edge says that the last thing that Jericho probably sees at night is his face. He says that when Jericho goes to get coffee in the morning, he sees Edge. He says that Chris is in his head all nightmare long. Edge says that he wants Chris at his best at Wrestlemania. He wants Jericho to stand up to his claim that he is the best in the world at what he does. If Chris has any of that doubt at Wrestlemania . . . the crowd chants ‘spear’ and Edge says that they guessed it. It will be one more spear and it is all over.
Jericho tells Edge that he will never spear him again. Jericho punches Edge with the mic and he waits for the Codebreaker but Edge holds on to the ropes and Jericho is proven to be a liar because Edge just speared him.
We go to commercial.

Palmer, who played “Inferno” on the UK Gladiators show, told TheSun.co.uk that she’s excited to follow in the footsteps of follow Brit babes Katie Lea and Lalya El. The 24-year old will relocate to Tampa, Florida, next month to join Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE’s developmental league. Palmer auditioned for Vince McMahon back in 2005 along with Katie Lea, but was not hired at that time. She’s been waiting on her work visa for seven months, which finally went through.

Y2J COMMENTS ON DANIEL BRYAN

NEW MEMBER IN THE CREATIVE TEAM

WWE has hired Joe Francosi for the creative team, a former producer for UPW and the man behind Mick Foley and Colt Cabana’s comedy tour. WWE is looking for him a place to live in New York as he will be starting out on something like a trial basis.
During his interview with the company, Francosi actually suggested the “spoken word” segment that was done by RAW host William Shatner a few weeks back.

UPDATE ON DX

Tiger Raj Singh, the son of Canadian star The Great Gama Singh, has signed a WWE developmental and will be heading to Tampa, Florida to begin training soon. Singh was signed to a deal after paying to go through one of the recent FCW tryouts.

UPDATE ON UNDERTAKER'S PYRO ACCIDENT

As previously reported, there was talk of having Shawn Michaels take responsibility for the pyrotechnics incident that happened at the Elimination Chamber PPV. The decision was made prior to RAW, and that idea was shot down ultimately.
One of the key things in the decision making was going to be based off how their camera angles had the incident, if it came off impressive, the idea would have been used on TV.
Undertaker had first and second degree burns on his chest and neck. Those within WWE consider him very lucky, having escaped with the burns he had, as opposed to how badly it could have been.
Despite the burns, Undertaker continued to work through the match in tremendous pain, and even refused to shorten the match. The sleeve of his jacket and part of his hand had melted when the pyro went off prematurely.

NEW STORYLINE WITH MICHAEL COLE VS INTERNET

You probably noticed on last night’s WWE NXT that Michael Cole kept burying Daniel Bryan and internet fans. It appears this is all part of a storyline as the following was posted last night on the WWE Universe Twitter page:
“Michael Cole has requested his @WWE Universe profile be removed from our site, not wanting to associate with ‘online fans” any longer.”
WWE on Twitter are asking for fans feedback and opinions on Cole’s announcing and then re-Tweeting what the fans say.
Josh Matthews was playing along with Cole on NXT, even mentioning how Cole was getting tips on announcing sent to him. This was in reference to Jim Ross saying on Twitter this weekend that he e-mailed Cole tips for the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

NXT AS ON 2/23

We are live on tape from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and your announcers are Josh ‘Am I the rookie or mentor’ Mathews and Michael ‘Vintage Mentoring’ Cole.

We see the rookies in the back in their ring gear. The Miz walks by and he looks at the rookies and then he turns his attention to his mentee Daniel Bryan. Miz tells him that he is the Unified Tag Team and United States Champion and he mentions that Daniel is an internet star who dominated the minor leagues. Many say that Daniel is ready for the WWE. Miz tells Daniel that you need to expect anything. He tells Daniel to introduce himself to everyone in the crowd and show personality and charisma. He wants Daniel to give everyone a reason to watch him every week. Miz tells Daniel that he can go out to his music but Daniel doesn’t want to. Miz says that Bryan’s personality is as dry as the Mohave Desert compared to him and if Bryan doesn’t show personality, he will slap some into him.

We have a third member of the announce team and it is Matt Striker, who is the host. Matt says that he jumped at the opportunity for the ability to be involved with the show so we can see into the development of the wrestlers.

We go to the ring where Daniel Bryan has made his way to the ring. Daniel thanks everyone for the reception since his ‘pro’ is the Miz. Daniel gets a good laugh at that. He tells all of his fans that he has two words ‘I’m Sorry’. He says that he wishes his pro was William Regal. Daniel introduces himself and he says that he has been wrestling all over the world for the last ten years and now he has his chance in the WWE. He says that NXT is the next evolution in the WWE and he . . .

is interrupted by the Miz. Miz says that this is going to be a lot of fun and his work is cut out for him. He does not like what Daniel said and questions his charisma. Bryan tells Miz to be careful or he will submit him right now. Miz says that Bryan might be a submission machine but where is the charisma. Daniel says that he will go on a reality show, get a fauxhawk and act like an idiot, but that has already been done. Miz wants Daniel to give him a catchphrase. Miz says that everyone knows who he is when he says ‘I’m awesome’. He says that you have two options in the ring, you tap or you snap. The fans appear to like that catchphrase. Miz asks if the crowd thinks that Daniel showed personality and charisma. He asks if Daniel deserves to be in the same ring as him and the Miz says that he doesn’t and that Daniel failed. Miz slaps Bryan and leaves the ring.

Bryan tells Miz that there will be a time that he slaps him back. We go to commercial.

We are back and Matt Striker talked to Daniel Bryan moments ago. Matt asks how he felt about being slapped. Daniel says that he doesn’t feel embarrassed. He just figures that he will get to slap Miz. Matt says that WWE is about respect and Daniel says that he has been in the business longer than Miz. Matt tells Daniel that he will have to listen to the Miz to be a star.

Carlito comes out with Michael Tarver and he says that with his mentoring, Michael Tarver will be the next WWE star. ANOTHER POSSIBLE HALL OF FAMER

One source suggested that Primo recently being featured on RAW and Superstars as well as Carlito being named a WWE NXT Pro may be due to their father, Carlos Colon, being pitched for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. However, with Antonio Inoki already being inducted this year, they may not want to go with two international stars.

It’s not finalized, but Steve Austin may be the final RAW guest host. The original idea was to end the guest host angle at WrestleMania but there has been talk of extending it. While Austin is the last name listed by WWE to host, with TNA going to Monday nights WWE may choose to keep the guest host gig around to help boost ratings against TNA.

BRET HART WINNING TITLE AT WRESTLEMANIA??

Multiple WWE sources are reporting that Vince McMahon has decided to go a different direction with the Bret Hart storyline and WrestleMania. Believe it or not, the plan as of this weekend was for Bret to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania.

The plan as of Sunday morning was to have either Batista or John Cena walk out of Elimination Chamber with the WWE Title, which obviously Batista won. This should lead to Bret Hart & John Cena vs. Vince McMahon & Batista at WrestleMania with the person who gets the winning pinfall will be new WWE Champion.

The angle has been described as something that would be a “feel-good title win” for Bret. A likely ending for the match would be for Bret to make Vince tapout with the Sharpshooter but that’s nothing confirmed.

Vince has gone back and forth on where they’re headed with Bret for WrestleMania a few times over the past month but as of this weekend, this was the plan.

I never ask my fans for much, but if you think I would be the best opponent to fight Jason Momoa in the new Conan the Barbarian film then I need you guys to hit the Conan chat rooms, forums, blogs, tweets, and message boards and let them know Shad Gaspard is the man when it comes to kicking ass and taking names on the big screen…..”
